04 July COVID-19 Update

COVID19 - We are Good To Go!

The Yard is now OPEN but, things need to be a little different…

We are thrilled to be open again! To welcome back our customers and to help them to get back on the water. We are delighted the COVID-19 lockdown has been eased further allowing us to hire our yachts to members of the public (from Single Households and their `Support Bubble`), to include nights on board. However, our ability to stay open will depend on future COVID-19 infection rates across the UK – So, please check with the Yard prior to travel to confirm it will be open

We have been working with other boatyards to ensure new procedures are in operation that serve to protect our customers and staff from COVID-19 infection risks

We have implemented new cleaning, social distancing and safety measures inline with Government, Marine and Tourism Industry guideance and best practice. Our customers can now be confident we have measures in place to allow them to enjoy their sailing holiday with us

From Sat 04 July, until further notice, access to the yard is ONLY available to customers who have a confirmed booking for one of our Yachts. We are NOT yet inviting casual visits to the yard by members of the public

Whilst Social Distancing rules apply, and until further notice, we are unable to offer Skippered Sails or Sail Training Courses on our yachts

Customers – Please…

New From 2019!

‘Electric Quants’

Three of our beautiful yachts have been fitted with Torqeedo ‘electric pod’ units.  Lucent was our first boat to be fitted with a unit for the 2018 season and ultimately proved to be a great success, so 2 more of our ‘ladies’ have followed suit: Lustre and Hustler 3.

The set up consists of a folding propellor fitted closely behind the keel so as not to interfere with sailing.  The batteries are housed within the boat, and there is a simple to use control panel in the cockpit.   As a basic guide, to use the unit you switch the power on and the propellor will unfold itself… you then move the lever to provide backwards or forwards momentum.  When you’re done, return the lever to the centre and switch it off.  The propellor will then fold itself away ready for you to sail once again.  The power is there to be used in place of quanting when required, not to ‘motor’ around the Broads… what would be the fun in that after all?

There is a small additional charge added to the hire price if you want to use the units, £10 per day or £50 for a full week.  You don’t have to opt to use the units when you hire Lucent, Lustre, or Hustler 3… you can stick with a trusty quant pole if you prefer… the choice is entirely yours!

Lighting and USB Ports

All of our Hustler Class yachts now come with USB charging ports, and all of the Hustler Class and Wood Class Yachts have electric and battery powered lighting fitted.  The Lullaby Class yachts still have the traditional oil lamps on them.

Can you help?

Covid-19 is having a dramatic effect on Hunter’s Yard and the Norfolk Heritage Fleet with a loss of income for most of this year. We have already furloughed most of the staff and we are taking every opportunity to gain Government and other funding to see us through this crisis. However, there will still be a shortfall and it would be such a shame if Percy’s Lovely Ladies did not survive for future generations to enjoy. If you are able to give a donation (with or without Gift Aid) it would help us enormously. With very grateful thanks in advance from all the Trustees and Staff at Hunter`s

Thank you all – Stay Safe
