New Procedures for Customers Hiring Our Yachts

COVID19 - We are Good To Go!

Customer and Staff safety is of paramount importance to us all. We have put in place new procedures, inline with UK Gov. and British Marine Industry guidelines, to ensure a system of working is now in operation at the Yard that serves to protect us all from COVID-19 infection risks and to help ensure our customers can enjoy their sailing holiday with us. Please read carefully and comply with all our new requirements

Your Paperwork

Most of the paperwork relating to your hire, such as the crew list and invoices will be sent by email. We ask that you return your crew list, duly completed and signed by email, post or present it on your arrival at the Yard

All outstanding payments MUST be settled before arrival please. Payments can be made by Online Bank Transfer (our bank details are at the bottom of the invoice), card payment over the phone or by cheque

Suggestions – for your peace of mind you may like to consider…

  • Lifejackets and Buoyancy Aids – Will still be provided by the Yard. However, you may like to bring your own if you have them
  • Bedding and Pillows – We ask you to bring your own pillows and bedding please. However, they will still be available if required. Please let us know in advance if you require bedding, otherwise the boat will be supplied without it

Your Arrival

We need to maintain Social Distancing and avoid crowds. So, each hirer will be allotted a time slot for their arrival at the Yard. If you are late, missing your time-slot, you may well have to wait until we can safely fit you in between other arrivals. Should the time slot given not be suitable, please let us know as soon as possible so we can reschedule your arrival

Entry to the Shed

The front door of the Yard will remain locked and all entry will be by the doors at the dyke end. Please go around to the right of the sheds (the black building side) to avoid the narrow and sometimes muddy path and please remember the current social distancing rules.

A small area of the shed will be partitioned off for customers, where you will find a reception desk outside the office area to report to. We ask that only ONE member of your party CHECKS IN, finds your boat, then collects your crew and trolley (if needed). If it’s raining, most of your party may need to remain in your car

Trollies

Our metal trollies will be available for your luggage and can be found on the grassy area in front of the shed at the waters edge

Toilets – Showers – Refreshment

The toilets will be open with access being limited to ONE person, or ONE family group, at a time. Please note – The toilets will be CLOSED when the Yard is closed. Yard opening hours are Mon – Sat 8:15am – 4:30pm (Note: The disabled toilet is now for staff use only). Showers are UNAVAILABLE until further notice. We’re also sorry to say that our refreshment area will NOT be available either.

Handover – Briefing – Showing Out

As normal, we’re here to help you get away, to start your sailing holiday, as quickly as possible. We realise most of you probably won’t need our help. However, if you would like some assistance, just a reminder or a full briefing, please just let us know.

The briefing will be given to ONE person on the boat, with the rest of the crew listening on the bank please. Our team member will wear PPE while giving the briefing and we ask that you bring your own face mask too, although some masks will be available here.

Our Instructional DVD is available for those who might value a quick, pre-arrival, `refresher` on how things are done! The contents of our instructional DVD are also available on this website as well as on YouTube

Personal Protection Equipment – PPE

You are asked to bring your own face mask if possible, for use during the handover briefing. Some face masks will be available at the Yard

Onboard information bag

We will limit onboard information this year to just the essentials. Emergency telephone numbers, how to’s on the boat equipment and tide tables etc. If you need/want more information please let us know

Merchandise

Our merchandise will not be out on display to reduce handling and the possibility of missing anything that should be quarantined if tried on etc. However, if you would like to make a purchase and know your size please ask

Book Lending Library

Remember to bring your own reading material with you for your holiday! Unfortunately, we need to CLOSE our lending library this year

Fridge Freezer

The fridge and freezer, located in the toilet hallway, will NOT be available for use this year

Getting Away

We ask that you load up and leave the Yard as soon as you can. We would love to chat, catch up with news, but we’re sure you understand the continued need for social distancing

Once away! You are, of course, free to navigate the Broads, within the limits of our sailing area, as it suits you. Additional advice and guidance relating to COVID-19 is available from the Broads Authority, you can read it here, we recommend you have a read!

Before you leave home

Please make sure NO ONE in your party have, or have had, symptoms of COVID-19 for at least 14 days prior to your arrival. It would also be prudent to check if your area has had restrictions re-introduced. We are very happy to work with you to find alternatives should that be necessary.

And Finally

All of this may sound a little unfriendly. But, at least we are open and can allow our Yachts back out on the water again!

Keep in mind the need to respect each other by remembering to comply with social distancing rules whilst at the Yard.

Please call or email if you have any further questions or need any further information, we’re happy to help.

We look forward to welcoming you all back to Hunter’s Yard very soon! Have a safe journey
